Fast forward today and not only do we have Productive! Magazine as a monthly magazine in the form of an app for the iPhone, iPad and Android platforms... but the "productivity platofrm" I initiated has now local versions in Polish, Spanish, Japanese and now... (drumrolls!) in Dutch!
I'm really proud of our Productive! Magazine Dutch team:
- Fokke Koistra of Think Productive Benelux - editor in chief
- Callista Vink - assistant editor
- Magda Blaszczyk - executive editor of Productive! Magazine and coordinator of all the issues together with Radziu and Radek of our Nozbe team.
What's in the first issue of the Dutch magazine?
Interview with yours truly as well as articles by leading Dutch-speaking productivity experts like: Gonny van der Zwaag, Bart Timmers, Grace Marshall, Frank Meeuwsen, Marcel van der Berg, Martijn Aslander... as well as Graham Allcott and Juan Antonio Dominion.
As always - the idea is that our localized magazines are really local - written by local experts and for the local community... and in 2015 the Dutch version will be a quarterly magazine... and if it gains traction Fokke promised to prepare new issues more frequently, so make sure to check it out, if you speak Dutch!
Fun fact: When I launched Nozbe back in 2007 I posted about it on Frank Meeuwsen's blog "What's the Next Action?" and that post catapulted Nozbe's popularity. Now Frank is a good friend and one of the contributors to our magazine. World is indeed a small place... and a great (and productive!) one at that!
Question: Have you checked our local versions of Productive! Magazine? Which ones? Do you read regularly our main magazine?

I'd say the time is the main character of the newest issue of our magazine. It might make some of you think funny as many people find the time their enemy. Perhaps I'm one of them... at times :) Time as an enemy is a source of guilt, stress, misery and hurry (thus - mistakes). We are sure we have to beat the time or at least fight with it constantly.
Is there a way to make the time a friend? I am sure there is. Read the interview with Andrea Feinberg and then the articles by Grace Marshall and Sara Caputo and look for the ways which may work for you.
Some people fight with time because they want to slow it down and squeeze more things into a 24-hour period. Some of us don't like time as it is at all and keep waiting for tomorrow to be better and more suitable to introduce the changes. Anyways, maybe it's a good idea to see time as a friend, as a tool, as bag full of opportunities...
Time as a friend
Time can be your ally, really! All you need to do is start treating it like that. You can play with it, try new things, like it. Note, though, that your friendship could be even better if you think realistically and get to know "your" time well. Your time is your time - 24 hours a day, 365 days in a year and your possibilities are limited. Like in every friendship, you need to accept some of the weak sides and constraints of the other person and not try to force them to take too much on them.
Time as a tool
Time can be a nice tool to work with and to experiment with. Last week I prepared a document for my employees. It was our company's strategy for the year 2015. It worked really well and motivated the Nozbe team because I wrote it in a form of a note from my diary written on 31 December 2015. I presented my vision as actual facts. As one of the guys said, "It didn't sound like a plan but a sheer autosuggestion - it all has already happened... although in a year from now ;)"
Time as a source of opportunities
Think life is too short to do stuff? What if you think the other way round? Life is too long not to... :) Anyway, time offers you multiple opportunities. Some resolutions will require minutes or hours, and some - weeks or months. But time is there for us. For you. Why don't we take what we need. It's worth to partner with time to achieve what you want and what you need. Reasonably. With no stress, guilt or anxiety.
Let me summarize with a quote from a TEDx speech by Nigel Marsh:
"...the small things matter. Being more balanced doesn't mean dramatic upheaval in your life. With the smallest investment in the right places, you can radically transform the quality of your relationships and the quality of your life."
If you decide to make friends with time read more articles about life-work balance, focus and magical 15 minutes in the issue 25 of the Productive! Magazine
Question: Are you fighting with your time? Would you be willing to change it?

The October 2014 issue of Productive! Magazine has made me think of the support that everyone needs in their lives. Sometimes it is professional mentoring, and sometimes it is peer mentoring. It can also simply be the way we bring up our kids or look up to one of our professors at university.
As the poet John Donne wrote, "No man is an island." We live in a connected world and interact with other people; we can choose to make these people a part of our success. Every "productivity guru" will tell you that one of the most effective ways to change a habit is to ask for peer support. Having done that for a while now, I'd say that having a network of peers in the most important aspects of your life is critical to your success.

Last week I posted my video interview with Pat Flynn for the Productive! Magazine issue 21 and today let me tell you a little more about our newest issue of your favorite (and free) productivity magazine. It's jam-packed with fantastic productivity advice thanks to our amazing contributors. I'm so proud of what our team prepared for you:
Getting laid off was a blessing in disguise?
I really enjoyed my interview with Pat Flynn — a serial entrepreneur for whom getting laid off was the best thing that ever happened to him. Only then did he found out how to run business and earn money and be able to spend the majority of time with his family and on the stuff he likes:
"The passive income part was very much inspired by Tim Ferris’s The 4-Hour Workweek and his ability to put systems and automation into his businesses. The idea is that you don’t have to be present in order for transactions to happen."
I totally get what Pat is talking about. Nozbe works the same way - I don't have to be there waiting to greet each and every new customer who signs up, although I'd really like to :-)
But there's more:
Tuesday, February 25, 2014
Back in 2007 I launched Nozbe because I wanted to "scratch my own itch" and build a productivity tool that I'd want to use every day. Turns our I wasn't the only one. I felt it wasn't enough. I gave people a fantastic tool to get things done, but we all needed more than that. We needed inspiration and useful tips and tricks... and this is how the Productive! Magazine was born... and last week we've taken it to the next level:
Productive! Magazine is now a "monthly"... and is going places
When last year we relaunched the magazine we decided to make it a regular, monthly mag. I explained that in one of my shows. Well, we missed January, mostly because of me being too busy and not making the interviews on time... but we've learned our lesson and now we're back with issue #17 with Brian Tracy for February and issue #18 with Scott Belsky for March... and we have a whole lineup of interviewees for the future issues...
But that's not everything - we're converting Productive! Magazine into a global franchise with magazines in different languages! Now, that's really exciting:
Friday, February 7, 2014
Yes, I know, we're a little late with the January issue of our Productive! Magazine but I assure you it was worth the wait. I decided to do a live interview with Brian Tracy as I was very impressed when I met him at a conference I was attending. Here's the issue 17:
You can read the Productive! Magazine in three ways:
- on your Mac or Windows PC (on our web site)
- on the iPhone or iPad - get our app
- on the Android phone or tablet - get our app - new!
Anyway, won't bore you with more details, suffice to say in this issue you'll find not only an inspiring interview with Brian but also some amazing articles by the best productivity bloggers on the Internet - enjoy!
As always, your favorite productivity magazine is sponsored by Nozbe - your favorite time and project management suite of apps that helps you get things done every single day :-)
Question: What did you like about this new issue?
Wednesday, January 15, 2014
As I mentioned in my last post one of my team's biggest achievements in 2013 was re-launching Productive! Magazine as an iPhone and iPad app. And our plans were even more ambitious than that. We also wanted to have an Android app and today we're launching your favorite productivity magazine on Android platform
As you know I'm a big fan of Apple iGadgets but I also had Android devices in the past and although I don't approve of Google's privacy policies I believe in choice and if one prefers an Android phone or tablet I'll be more than happy to oblige. After all, we've been having Nozbe Android apps for quite some time now.
Productive! Magazine 17 soon!
We'll soon reveal our 17th issue of our magazine so stay tuned and if you want to make sure you'll get it on time, please visit our Productive! Magazine site and get our apps. Thanks to Nozbe's sponsorship I can offer you the inspiration and advice of the best productivity experts on the internet for free :-)
Question: Are you reading Productive magazine? Why? Why not? How do you read it? On which device?

We are back with a brand new issue of the Productive! Magazine and this time I invited a good friend of mine and a fellow GTDer ("Getting Things Done" follower) - Augusto Pinaud - the author of the Amazon best-selling book: "25 tips for Productivity".
Issue #14 with Augusto Pinaud
or if you have an iPad get the magazine to your iPad from the App Store
In this issue you'll find my interview with him along with many other great articles by some of the best experts in productivity like Craig Jarrow ("Time Management Ninja"), Laura Stack ("Productivity Pro®"), Graham Allcott, Robert Terson, Maura Nevel Thomas, Mike St. Pierre and yours truly.
And on the side note... I just merged "Productive Firm" and "MichaelNozbe" blogs to one site... hope you like the result. More on that later :-) Now enjoy the magazine, it's been a blast making it for you!
P.S. I'd like to thank Augusto and all the contributors of this issue for fantastic articles and inspiration, Wojtek, Piotr, Lori, James and Delfina for making the issue happen and Tom, Radek and Bartek for the amazing work on this new web site :-)

Last week we launched the latest issue of the Productive! Magazine with Graham Allcott on the cover and my interview with him about the concepts behind his new book where he explains how to become a "Productivity Ninja" :-)
Here's the cover:
or read on our iPad app
Magazine is free (I only ask for an email address)
Magazine will always be free. I do it because I love doing it and I love getting to know new people in my "productivity industry" and for this issue I received many great new contributions and connected with some amazing folks.
The only change I did this time is that from now on, to download the latest issue I do ask you to sign up for our Newsletter. This ensures that I can email you about new issues and stay in touch. I decided it's time to build a great "productivity community" and this is how I'm getting started.
Let me know what you think! And who to include next?
Each issue I get to interview someone really cool. This time it was a person I knew before, a good friend and a real "productivity ninja" - Graham Allcott. To learn all about him, get the magazine and watch this short interview I did with him:
Wednesday, August 29, 2012
Thursday, August 16, 2012
Monday, August 13, 2012
Graham Allcott, author of a great book "How to Be a Productivity Ninja" talks to Michael Sliwinski, editor of the Productive! Magazine and founder of Nozbe time and project management app about productivity hacks, focus, attention management and zen-like calm... they discuss ninja-tricks and tactics that will help you get more done every single day. Full interview with Graham will be available in the August 2012 issue (#13) of the free Productive! Magazne.
Question: What do you do to become a productivity ninja?

It's been a busy month for me traveling a little more than usual, launching our very own app on the Mac App Store (yay!) that I actually forgot about mentioning here to you that we've also launched the #12th issue of the Productive! Magazine with Jason Womack.
As always, I've had a blast talking to Jason about his new book, "Your best just got better" and we actually recorded two videos for this issue - one in English (the usual) and one in Spanish :-)
Make sure to also check out past issues of our Magazine if you haven't.
Here's the video in English:
Here's the one in Spanish:
And as a bonus, here's the 1-minute short version of the English video that we included in the iPad version of the magazine:
Enjoy - and if you'd like to post your articles in the magazine, go to our web site for the guidelines - I do the magazine because I'm passinate about productivity and I want to give my Nozbe customers more than just a tool, I want to inspire them and you all. Thanks to the great folks who participate in the magazine and help me make this happen, our magazine keeps growing :-)
